“Building my Brand Identity”

Academic Background & Achievements
Hi! My name is Karissa Freidag and I am from Lake Carroll, Illinois. My academic career started at Highland Community College and now I am currently a junior at Illinois State University majoring in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Business Environment and Sustainability. This semester I have been given the opportunity to be one of the Teaching Assistants for the Textiles course offered here at Illinois State. This is a great achievement and I am sure that this will help prepare me for my future.

Career Experience & Strengths
Having worked retail for the past five years has really shaped me personally and professionally. It has shown me how important and helpful it is to work in a team oriented environment. Also, those years have also given me a good amount of experience in customer service, which is essential in the fashion industry. My retail experience has provided me with many strengths including organization, good communication skills, and the ability to multitask. All of these skills will help me succeed in the workplace.

Career Goals
I have always had an interest in Fashion because it was a way for me to get creative and express myself. When it comes to my career goals, I hope to end up in a large city and to work in a corporate office for a popular fashion company. I would love to be a Buyer for a company and be able to select specific pieces, work with designers, and attend fashion shows. Also, another dream of mine would be to open my own store or boutique in the future.
Visual Merchandising Analysis
Within my blog I will be analyzing various fashion window displays, including knowledge I have learned from my Fashion Promotion course. It will be interesting to see the thought process from the different stores and to see how unique each particular display is.
